Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds made contact with Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop after his challenge on Paul Mullin resulted in the striker suffering a puncture to his lung.
Mullin, who was a key figure in Wrexham’s promotion from the National League last season after scoring 38 goals, was hurt after a collision with Bishop when chasing a long ball over the top during the sides’ pre-season friendly earlier this week.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson voiced his unhappiness with the challenge after the game, but co-owner Reynolds sent a message to Bishop — who apologised after the event — to acknowledge his conduct after the incident and wish him well for the future.
Bishop also spoke directly with Mullin, who was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
Discharged, Thank you to everyone @UCSDHealth for the incredible care! Will keep everyone updated but rest and recover is the 1st step! 🙏🏼😄

Mullin’s shoulder had taken much of the impact after he pipped Bishop to the ball just outside the penalty area. Wrexham’s medical staff rushed onto the field and the striker was down for seven or eight minutes receiving treatment, during which time he received oxygen.
Parkinson, when asked about Bishop after the game, said: “I haven’t seen the goalie and it’s probably best he stays clear of us for the time being because we are not very happy with him.”
Bishop later posted an apology on social media, writing: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to Paul Mullin. A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with zero malicious intent at all!
“Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”
Mullin is set to miss the start of the season but provided an update on his condition on Wednesday.
He said: “Discharged. Thank you to everyone for the incredible care. Will keep everyone updated but rest and recovery is the first step.”
